Two weeks workshop

“How to start Bioinformatics, and
data analysis for Next Generation Sequencing"

August 14- 31, 2021

We will start this workshop by answering the most important question of the researchers/students e.g. How I can start learning Bioinformatics and and data analysis with Linux system ? How to shift from windows system to linux system ? Further, we will also teach you the basics of 'Python', 'R', and data analysis with both the modules. In addition to this, we will also provide you the filtering and analysis of datasets generated by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies (e.g. RNA-Seq data, Whole Genome Sequencing, Exome Sequencing, and ChIP-Seq). Basics of Network Biology and use of Cytoscape tool for Network analysis, and a very informative training session on Protein-ligand docking by using  Auto doc vina, and Ligplus, will also be provided. We will cover basics to advanced aspects of all the topics mentioned.   


Who can participate: Students (B.Sc./B.Tech/M.Sc./M.Tech), Research Fellows (Ph.D. fellows), Researchers, Faculty, Scientists, and Company Personals.

August 17, 2021 (07:00 - 08:00 PM): Learn 'R' programming for Bioinformatics research.

  • Installation of R.

  • Basics of 'R' and 'R studio'.

  • Basic data handling in R.

August 18, 2021 (07:00 PM - 08:00 PM): Advanced training of 'R'.

  • File handling in 'R'.

  • Data analysis in 'R'.

  • Graphs and Plots generation in 'R' for publications.

August 19, 2021: Your Practice day.

August 20, 2021 (07:00 PM - 08:00 PM): Quality Control of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets.

  • Basics of NGS datasets, generation and Quality Score.

  • Data handling and Filtering of NGS datasets, trimming etc.

  • Training of tools to filter the NGS datasets.

August 21, 2021 (07:00 PM - 08:00 PM): Gene expression analysis with RNA-Seq data datasets-I.

August 31, 2021 (07:00 PM - 08:00 PM): ChIP-Seq data analysis -II

Prerequisite for the workshop

  • Computer/Laptop with stable internet connection, and MIC.

  • Basic knowledge of molecular biology.

Certification and other highlights

  • Participants must have access to the laptop/desktop with a stable internet connection. 

  • Participants successfully completing the training will be provided with E-certificate.

  • The entire training will be online and interactive (16-20 Hours).

  • We will provide the full recordings of all the training sessions. 

  • We will provide the link (e.g. Webex) to join the training sessions, one day before the event.
